22nd September 1916

At Halifax. A mail arrived today but as I did not expect any letters I was not disappointed at not receiving any. Wrote to Aunt Nina.

Leave granted, the S. B. S. having gone I hope to go tomorrow.

10 p.m. Have been doing some ironing, just finished in fact. I have been using an electric iron, such a neat and splendidly effective contrivance. Such an article would be a boon to you ladies who have so much to do in this line, but of course it would not be any good unless electricity happened to be laid on. Electricity must be cheap ashore I think for most houses seem to have it installed.
